Results of the seniors' SGR-PBG-ViG friendly match
The visitors arrived on 27.8.2026, on a beautiful summer day, with teams of 11 players to meet the 17 players of Rönnäs. The visitors too achieved good results on the demanding course. The 8 best results in each team were counted. The Porvoo team won with 273 points, Rönnäs came second with 265 points and Virvik had 259 points.
Virvik's best player was Erkki Riski, and Riitta Karhia was also rewarded as the best woman player of the competition. The challenge trophy stayed in Porvoo, to their delight, for a year, but the goal is to win it back to Virvik next year!
Virvik – Hirvihaara friendly matchThe seniors of Hirvihaara Golf came to Virvik with a team of 10 to compete for our challenge trophy. The Virvik seniors defended the trophy, which we have held since 2024, actively with a team of 21. Virvik won 363 / 295 when the 10 best from each team are counted. If every other player is left out of the Virvik team so that the basic teams would be the same size, Virvik's winning figures are 325 / 295.Hirvihaara's best player was Arto Heinonen with 34 points and Virvik's best player was Eeva Riski with 39 points.
Seniors' monthly competitions 2026
At the beginning of the prize-giving we held a moment of silence in memory of the late Lars Kajander. We remember him as a captain and as an active senior.
We played the last monthly competition in excellent conditions and the results were accordingly. The August competition was won in the different categories by Carina Gustafsson and Matti Sihvonen. The challenge trophy is decided by the 3 best competitions of the summer, and counted this way the best player this year was Matti Sihvonen, who took the trophy.
The seniors' season continues with two friendly matches and, in September, with the wine competitions.

Schedule: shotgun start from 9.30, Meri 18r
Format: Stableford with full handicap (max 36,0).
Tees: As a rule men play from yellow and women from red. Exceptions: Men: 70v- yellow or blue. 75v- yellow, blue or red. Women: 65v-red or pink. The player's slope is calculated according to the tee chosen.
Price: holders of playing rights 30e, visitors 50e.
The entry fee includes coffee and a bun before the round and lunch after the round.
The result is the sum of the 8 best point totals. If all the teams do not get a full number of players into the competition, the points are counted according to the smallest team, but at least 5 results. No women's quota, but all ladies are welcome.

On 13.5 at 9.05 we play a light-hearted seniors' one-person scramble, in which every shot may be replayed if you wish. Shotgun start at a price of 10 €, which includes two grilled sausages. Two-player groups, which I draw in the system. Get in touch with me if you want to choose your playing partner in advance!
The competition calendar is now complete on Virvik's website and all the traditional competitions are included. The first monthly competition is on 20.5. The competition has a shotgun start at 9.00. The entry fee for those who have paid the playing fee is 25 € (includes lunch but not morning coffee). The wine competitions are played in the autumn as usual.
The Nevas - Virvik friendly match is played on 28.5 at Nevas at a price of 58 € including lunch. Talma withdrew from the competition, so in future we play only one match against Nevas each spring. The dates of the Hirvihaara and Rönnäs friendly matches have not yet been agreed. Register for these through the Virvik competition calendar or the ”Tapahtumat” page! The aim is a team of 16 for the friendly match, including at least 4 women players.

A new season has begun and the senior committee is waking up to a new summer. The committee consists of pera.ikonen@kolumbus.fi, johan.söderberg@yahoo.fi and the undersigned. We need new members on the committee; contact me if you are interested in helping to develop Virvik's senior activities.

Action plan for the 2026 seasonAt the beginning of the season a three-club Stableford competition is organised, early in the week and on a weekday. The entry fee could be for example 30 €, so that the entry fee covers salmon soup and a glass of sparkling wine.The focus of the activities will be on organising play. During the season the traditional seniors' monthly competitions and wine competitions are organised. The wine competitions are developed by applying different formats.The monthly competitions are coordinated so that no other competitions of interest to seniors fall in the same week.We take part in the match play championships of the Uusimaa regional seniors (UAS) and again aim to get through to the medal matches.The traditional seniors' club matches Virvik - Talma-Nevas will next season be played only as Stableford in the spring at Nevas, together with the Rönnäs-Virvik-Porvoo match at Rönnäs. The friendly club match against Hirvihaara Golf Club is played at Hirvihaara. We communicate clearly that an unlimited number of players may take part in the Rönnäs and Hirvihaara matches.We improve communication with several monthly letters and take part in developing better communication at Virvik.Through a mentoring scheme we make sure that new members feel at home in our club.The senior committee's spring meeting is held at the end of March, and we will try to bring in new seniors as members of the committee.

Seniors' monthly competitions
We played the August competition as a memorial competition for Osmo Kekkonen. Osmo made his albatross on hole 13 and we tried to do the same. Nobody reached the flag even in two shots, but Pekka Aho got to 1,55 m from the flag and won the nearest-the-pin competition.We played the last monthly competition in excellent conditions and the results were accordingly. The August competition was won in the different categories by Päivi Karlsson, Christer Österberg and Michael Nordgren. The challenge trophy is decided by the 3 best competitions of the summer, and counted this way the best player this year was Vesa Peltola, who took the trophy.

The first monthly competition was played on 14.5. The best results were made by Sirkku Nisula among the women and Esko Hällfors among the men.
The first friendly match has also been played. Talma could not put a team together, so Nevas and Virvik met each other. Nevas took the win and the trophy this year too, even though we also had many good performances. Virvik's best were Heimo Lehkonen and Eeva Riski.
The next monthly competitions are played on 11.6, 9.7 and 13.8, and at Midsummer many seniors also take part in the Juhannus Open. The wine competitions start again in August.
The Porvoo - Rönnäs friendly match is played at Porvoo on 20.8. The date of the Hirvihaara match at the end of August is still open. Together with the Ry and the Oy we look into the possibility of getting a newspaper article about Virvik and this event into Itäväylä.The focus of the activities will be on organising play. During the season the traditional seniors' monthly competitions and wine competitions are organised. The wine competitions are developed by applying different formats. The monthly competitions are coordinated so that no other competitions of interest to seniors fall in the same week.At the end of May a three-club Stableford competition is organised, early in the week and on a weekday.
