Course

18 holes, short walks between them.

Playing at Virvik's scenic seaside course is smooth. Short walks between holes and a clear layout speed up play.

TeeLengthCR/Slope
Yellow tee5624 m70.6 / 128
Red tee4914 m71.7 / 125

Course records: men Oliver Lindell 63 strokes (8.8.2015), women Christine Blomqvist 72 strokes.

In open competitions the red tee is played by women, women seniors, juniors aged 12 and under and men seniors aged 70 and over. The others play from the yellow.

You can also comfortably play 12-hole rounds here, which take under 2 hours. You can take a short break at the rest hut after hole 10. Toilets are near the tee box of hole 4, at the rest hut and near the green of hole 14 and the tee box of hole 15.

Holes

The club's own hole guides and maps.

Väylän 1 kartta

Hole 1

HCP 2

Yellow 447 m

Red 371 m

There is plenty of room for the tee shot. Play the tee shot to the right edge of the fairway, from where you continue with a mid iron. Watch out, reeds lurk on the right. From the fairway the rest is easier despite the greenside bunkers.

Väylän 2 kartta

Hole 2

HCP 10

Yellow 317 m

Red 249 m

Orange 184 m

On the 2nd hole it is 253m to the foot of the lone pine, to an unplayable spot. A slightly longer tee shot and you are already on the green.

Väylän 3 kartta

Hole 3

HCP 11

Yellow 430 m

Red 383 m

Orange 311 m

A double dogleg, right and then left. Play the tee shot to the fairway and the next shot preferably to the right edge of the fairway, from where the green opens up well. Double bunkers guard the green. Beware of a long approach. The rough is very difficult to play from.

Väylän 4 kartta

Hole 4

HCP 16

Yellow 125 m

Red 119 m

Orange 115 m

On the 4th hole, if you want to avoid the water hazard and out of bounds, choose a club with which you cannot under any circumstances hit more than 115m downhill, and even that requires a shot that starts slightly to the left. If you want to hit into the bushes behind the green, the tee shot needs to be 145m.

Väylän 5 kartta

Hole 5

HCP 9

Yellow 355 m

Red 312 m

Orange 264 m

On the 5th hole you easily reach the popular patch of woods on the right with a shot of between 163 and 196m.

Väylän 6 kartta

Hole 6

HCP 12

Yellow 289 m

Red 241 m

Orange 181 m

On the 6th hole you get on top of the hill with a straight drive of about 225m, otherwise you will be looking for your ball in the woods. Worth trying in the evening, when the sun shines straight down the hole into your eyes.

Väylän 7 kartta

Hole 7

HCP 8

Yellow 165 m

Red 143 m

Orange 120 m

Hole 7. You reach the green of the THIRD with a 159m shot, unless you have caught the trees before that. Remember FORE.

Väylän 8 kartta

Hole 8

HCP 13

Yellow 305 m

Red 285 m

Orange 215 m

Hole 8. You easily reach the water hazard on the left with a drive of 266m. The one on the right requires a slightly longer 286 metres

Väylän 9 kartta

Hole 9

HCP 6

Yellow 342 m

Red 305 m

Orange 220 m

You reach the green of the 9th hole by putting a little more power into the tee shot, banging out a modest 300 metres and hoping you do not hit the trees.

Väylän 10 kartta

Hole 10

HCP 3

Yellow 501 m

Red 454 m

Orange 369 m

You reach the ditch on the right of the 10th hole with a 229m tee shot, and the left one with a 249m tee shot. You can make the ball disappear into the patch of woods on the right with a 299 m tee shot, though that already requires a proper swing and the right kind of power. If you want to hit the tee shot with a little less power, it is worth aiming at the fairway bunker, which starts at 170 metres and continues 30 metres from there.

Väylän 11 kartta

Hole 11

HCP 4

Yellow 308 m

Red 259 m

Orange 214 m

The 11th hole is popular among slicers. It is a mere 264m as the crow flies to the middle of the green; a couple of trees and the difference in height may get in the way. When hitting straight down the fairway, however, a moderate slice can give a good result.

Väylän 12 kartta

Hole 12

HCP 14

Yellow 175 m

Red 155 m

Orange 152 m

The 12th hole is a very straight, clear downhill par 3, but you hit the right corner of the maintenance/machine shed with a shot of about 187 metres that goes slightly left.

Väylän 13 kartta

Hole 13

HCP 17

Yellow 294 m

Red 256 m

Orange 196 m

To reach the meadow on the right of the 13th hole, slicers need no more than a tee shot of about 150 metres. For the water hazard a straight tee shot carrying 150m - 203m is enough. To reach the green in the air only a 233m tee shot is required.

Väylän 14 kartta

Hole 14

HCP 1

Yellow 314 m

Red 269 m

Orange 209 m

Hitting the lower part of the trunk of the pine in the middle of the 14th hole requires a tee shot 244 m long.

Väylän 15 kartta

Hole 15

HCP 15

Yellow 332 m

Red 291 m

Orange 226 m

It is 260m to the second pine on the 15th hole; for the water hazard you already need a tailwind to help, the distance being 285m.

Väylän 16 kartta

Hole 16

HCP 7

Yellow 455 m

Red 407 m

Orange 317 m

On the 16th hole you need a good duff or top to drown the ball in the water hazard, which starts about 13 m away and ends at about 82 metres. Everyone other than Bryson DeChambeau should avoid a tee shot straight at the green; the distance is 399m and it requires a fairly high ball flight.

Väylän 17 kartta

Hole 17

HCP 18

Yellow 130 m

Red 120 m

Orange 112 m

On the 17th hole, check your club once more. A 9 iron is good, whereas a 6 iron can easily end up in the tee box of hole 18. FOOOORE!

Väylän 18 kartta

Hole 18

HCP 5

Yellow 340 m

Red 295 m

Orange 235 m

The reeds on the 18th hole have traditionally been a real Valintatalo for those who play with found balls. At about 100 m-150 m you find cheaper balls such as Wilson Smartcores or Ti-DNA, and the selection of ladies' balls has also been plentiful. From 150-200 metres you find slightly better ones; Srixons and Callaway's mid-priced balls have been popular, and some Titleist NXT balls have also been spotted. The real gold mine is 150-230 metres, where you then find top balls such as Titleist NXT-tour, PRO-V1(x), Nike One, TP burner Black and Red, Bridgestone and so on. If you want to hit your ball somewhere other than deep into the reeds, at 220m you find the birch ditch and you reach the big water hazard with a tee shot of about 250m. To reach the green as the crow flies you need no more than about 302 metres.

Practice area

The range is next to the car park and near the tee box of hole 1. The ball dispenser takes debit and credit cards as well as magnetic tokens bought from the office.

The putting green is next to the range. A second putting green is near the 14th tee. Next to the range there is also a practice bunker and a chipping green.
